Fees required- $5.00/person (to help with classroom rental), open to the general pagan community, no limit set on # of participants, yet.

Recommended/Required text- expensive but worth every penny (30.00) this is a mostly re-paganised collection:

“The Chronicles of the Celts: New Tellings of their Myths and Legends”, Peter Berresford Ellis, Carroll and Graf Pub., New York, 1999. ISBN: 0-7867-0606-6.

"The Mysteries of Druidry", Brendan Cathbad Myers, PhD.. New Page Books, Career Press. Franklin Lakes, NJ. 2006. 1-56414-878-5.

Suggested texts: any variety of translations for interpretive comparison, personal favorites of participants.

Topic of first meeting: to be determined. Likely topics: premise of mythology, cultural context, interpretive process, dealing with Christianized material, shamanic imagery, first myth in the text- The Ever-Living Ones.

VII: CELTIC LANGUAGE STUDY GROUP

Also popular!

...stay tuned.

VIII: COUNCIL POSITIONS

Three of our Council Members have stepped down, after serving the Grove with distinction during her formative months! All three will be sorely missed, and Honorary Memberships have been extended to them as a token of appreciation for jobs well done as Cedar Grove Founding Members!

There are currently two positions open to any who are willing to serve the Grove in an administrative capacity;

1. Scribe

2. Chief Administrator (out of three)

3. Chief Pursewarden (our current Pursewarden wishes to abdicate the position in favor of other responsibilities in the Grove.)

These initial first years are provisional, these positions are not yet elected, but applied for during our formative years. Applications/inquiries are currently being accepted- email cedargrovecouncil@yahoo.com. Details for the positions are found in our Grove Mission. These are not paid positions. Preference will be given to those who are actively participating in meetings and rituals.

GROVE ACTIVITY

Wheel of the Year   Imbolc, 2007.

Imbolc was beautiful!
It was very nice for the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship to let us rent the sanctuary for such a low donation amount. Our thanks go out to them, and all the blessings of Imbolc too:-).
Many thanks to Gryffyn, our Chief Purswarden and Administrator Emeritus, for making the arrangements for the use of the BUF facilities. Fine work, Man!
Thanks go out, also, to Kismit for donating the beautiful "alter bowl" and other ritual tools of destruction to Cedar Grove, and use in our Imbolc ritual. Also for all the time spent running around helping to find a 'snow drop', and sundry, and for assistance in printing assembly. Without her help through the obstacles that kept poping up, the ceremony may not have happened.
Thanks go to Jade as well, for help with cleanup, and for accepting the job of Chief Scribe for the Grove. Thanks!
Many thanks go out, of course, to everyone who assisted in set-up and clean-up.

Though it started late, and many who showed up had to leave before we actually started, It was a beautiful ritual, I look forward to the next one! Each year we get it together more and more.

2007 will be a pivotal year for Cedar Grove Druid Order.
Starting in May, look for the Celtic Worldview and Mythology Seminar,
Monthly Ogham hikes and trail stewardships,
The opening of our Druid Training and Seminary programs,
and more!

Once again, due to pressing family matters, I will be taking a leave of absence from the administration of Cedar Grove starting immediately and lasting untill Beltaine (officially) .
Please direct any questions or concerns to Rev. Darrin/Gryffyn durring this time, he will be moderating our groups, and organising rituals and activities as he is able. He is a busy fellow, and I think would appreciate any help from others with stuff.
I will still monitor the grove's email (cedargrovecouncil@ yahoo) and arrange the adopt-a-highway in March or April.

Thanks again, and Blessed Imbolc to everyone,
Aspen/|\
(Rev. Kipp)

Adopt-A-Highway! October 22nd, 2005.

Thanks to Darrin, Marcus, Valenn, and Valenn's friend M. (my apologies- I don't remember her craft name, the initial is of her real name which I wont say on-line without her permission)!
Thanks also to those who wished to participate but couldn't, and sent good energy our way today!
Thanks also go out to the Unitarian Fellowship for offering their space, and not asking for anything in return. This provided essential logistic help!
Once again, Pagans of Cedar Grove Druid Fellowship made a real contribution to our community, putting an honorable public face on the local Pagan presence here in Whatcom! All those who participated, both in deed and in spirit, should be proud at a job well done!
At Darrin's request, we held a short meditative circle in the parking lot afterward, sharing gratitude for the experience, for each other, and asking the spirits of that place to accept our work as an offering of love- Cedar Groves' commitment to the environment.
A small collection was taken up at the church in a desire to contribute something in good faith to the Unitarian Fellowship for their help.
All in all, a day well spent, and, as always, in the finest company! Thanks again to all for your very valuable time and energy!
I'll have photo's up in a few.
Samhuinn is around the corner! Stay tuned for details.

Blessings of Awen,
Aspen/|\

Adopt-A-Highway! April 9th, 2005.

Many thanks to those who gave of their valuable time and energy! No easy day, members of Cedar Grove served the community as well as Cedar Groves mission. On this day the Druids of Cedar Grove Druid Fellowship began to fulfill one of the purposes of our healing mission; to be a force for healing in Whatcom County. On this day, we became a Pagan organization with an honorable public face.  On this day we were not only Priests of Nature, but Guardians of the Earth. Our stewardship of the Earth only begins here, Cedar Groves' Eco-Ministry expanding to trail cleanup, tree planting, and more to come in the future! After a day of hard work, we enjoyed a time of fellowship, conducting Grove business in the shade of Cornwall's pines and well deserved refreshments. I believe we all ended an exhausting day refreshed in spirit, knowing that we had accomplished a worthy task.  Job well done everyone!
